Keeping it Unreal…

I found Horrible Bosses to be very entertaining and very humorous.  The good cast was what made the movie.  I was laughing out loud several times throughout the film, however, there are some things about the movie that I didn’t care for.  Parts of the movie left me thinking, “yeah right”.  The story was too predictable and there were too many unrealistic characters and situations.  Maybe I shouldn’t expect much more from a comedy like this, but I like a good story.

In order to keep the humor up to par, this movie went a little overboard with the story line.  These three friends, Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day) and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) go so far as to pay a random criminal (Jamie Foxx) some money all just for some advice, but when it comes to trying to get the job done, they don’t even have enough basic street smarts to cover their tracks, and based on their behavior, it is all a big joke to them.  They kept making simple mistakes that led them into a deeper bit of trouble that predictably leaves everything getting situated and worked out swell in the end.  Some of it was really funny, and some of it was so frustrating!

Horrible Bosses - Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston as Dr. Julia Harris in "Horrible Bosses"

Charlie Day’s role was driving me crazy at times.  He became overly obnoxious after the drug accident and it was too much.  Dr. Julia Harris (Jennifer Aniston) was a hot successful sex addict who’s goal in life was to sleep with Dale. Hardly seems horrible, but definitely obsessive. Her character seemed a little over the top at times, but at the same time it was played well and helped make the movie funny.  Kevin Spacey did a good job with his role, even though he turned out to be way more psychotic than just being a douche bag at the office.

I felt like the end of the movie was a quick wrap it up kind of ending and everything turned out so smooth and convenient for the good guys and it was so very unrealistic that it was just silly.

Don’t get me wrong though, despite some of the silly nonsensical stuff, I did enjoy watching this movie. It’s not the best comedy I’ve ever seen, but it was funny enough that I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh.  I loved the humor and the acting was great. I give Horrible Bosses 3 out of 5 laughs.
