So we talked about ruining a show potentially for the fans.  If you haven’t heard yet on the pre-order page for The Walking Dead Season 2 DVD set a MAJOR spoiler regarding the fate of a character by the end of the season was accidentally (or was it…?) revealed.  I think with a show like this its safe to say all bets are off on main characters not dying.  IF you want to spoil the surprise death for yourself click here (warning this may enrage you when you find out so don’t send us hate mail).

The Crew talks about a lot of Movie Trailers including:  MIB 3, Avengers, Prometheus Viral TED Talk video as well as the movie GOON.  We also ask ourselves… “do we really need viral marketing in our daily lives?” (Find out who agrees and disagrees)

Fringe Cast

Q & I are huge fans of 2 FOX TV shows that potentially could be facing the axe.  If you haven’t seen FRINGE or Alcatraz your doing your self a disservice.  The reason I say this is both of these shows are very creative and mysterious without having to go over people’s heads that aren’t into Sci-Fi/Drama.  With viewership on the decline for both shows, FOX doesn’t see why it should continue producing the shows. Instead they mar replace both shows with something that has a bit more reality (Which seems to be all we have on TV now).  I don’t have to many shows I enjoy and have dedicated myself to these to shows. I feel losing either of these shows now would be a huge mis-step on FOX’s part.

Ghost Rider

So Shady decided to go see Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance this last weekend and we were hoping for a great review from Shady. Why do you ask, well,  #1 he’s into Motorcycles, #2 he liked the first one, & #3 he wouldn’t stop talking about the trailer when it came out a few months ago.  Find out his thoughts and opinion of the latest installment from the Ghost Rider franchise.

Billy is back!

Billy Crystal Returns to Host

Billy Crystal Returns to Host

I think everyone was re-leaved when the news hit a few months ago that Billy Crystal was indeed going to return to the hosting duties of the OSCARS.  I even was more excited when I saw the trailer for the OSCARS called “The Host”, which made me feel that this was going to blow away all expectations. We take time to talk about some of the highlights and low lights and all the fun stuff in between plus go over our OSCAR predictions from last weeks episode (if you haven’t heard it go here first).

We hope you enjoy listening and we would love to hear back from you. Feel free to join the conversation on twitter via @entfortherest you can also find the crew on twitter: Q (@aka_q), Shady (@ShadyTheBiker) and me SquareRoss (@SquareRoss).

Until next time stay safe and enjoy your entertainment!

EftRou 150: Captivated and Smitten….

EftRou 150

This week it’s just Q and Square talking Grammy’s and some other odds and ends from the entertainment world, including the preview release of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-Ray, The reboot/re-imagining of the Green Arrow character for the new CW Series “Arrow” and more.  So kick back and enjoy this episode.

Odds and Ends

So to start things off we talk a little Green Arrow and the CW’s new take on it with an upcoming TV series titled appropriately “Arrow”.  The series is going to go a different direction than they did with Justin Hartley‘s “Oliver Queen” in fact it’s not being produced by the creators of Smallville or featuring any of the actors that were in Smallville (2001).  Instead the producers of the Green Lantern (2011) (or as I called it the Green Lanturd  awhile back by mistake) will be producing this new series.  The show is going to be more Jason Bourne esquie and will star Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Katie Cassidy as Dinah ‘Laurel’ Lance aka Black Canary and Susanna Thompson playing Moira Queen.  Q and I agree this sounds good and are looking forward to seeing this new show.

Space the final frontier….

Side by side comparison of the Blu-Ray upgrade

Side by side comparison of the Blu-Ray upgrade

Recently I got my hands on the newly released Blu-Ray preview of what will sure to be a must have for “Star Trek: The Next Generation”fans.  CBS/Paramount recently went into the vaults and masterfully begun the tedious process of restoring all of the TNG (The Next Generation) episodes and sound/audio/effects/etc for the shows anniversary this year.  What I’m most impressed with is the quality of this 3 episode set including the Pilot, The award-winning and fan favorite “The Inner Light” and the 2-part “Sins of the Father”.  I’d have to say this was well worth the $17 I spent. I’m looking forward to seeing more episodes later on this spring/summer from the remastered series.

The Grammys

adele

Adele with her new golden babies

Q had the opportunity to watch the Grammy awards and see the performances as well as the winners and losers.  In fact I think Q is quite smitten with Adele and her vocal talents.  I’d have to agree with this as she had me hooked with her previous album 19.  This year she swept the Grammy’s with her new album 21 which you can find the review here.  The show however had a more somber tone than most years as Whitney Houston died a day before the Grammy’s.  Q talks about other musical acts as well as his thoughts on music in general.

Well that’s it for this edition of EftRou, we hope you enjoyed it as always.  We would love to have you join the conversation on twitter via @entfortherest you can also find the crew on twitter: Q (@aka_q) and me SquareRoss (@SquareRoss) or send us an e-mail at heyyouguys@eftrou.com.

EftRoU 122: comicxtravaganza…

Entertainment for the Rest of Us

It looks like you found your way to Entertainment for the Rest of Us, the site where we review everything leisurely. This week the cast and crew tries something a little different. We discuss the Marvel Civil War, some ComicCon stuff and the movie Captain America.

#SDCC

#SDCC

So if you didn’t know this big festival of sorts that takes place every year in San Diego called ComicCon. Mike (EatSleepGeek.com) goes every year. So the crew thought we would ask him a few questions about his trip. It sounds much different from the one you hear about on Twitter, Facebook and news reports. On a side note EatSleepGeek.com has a new writer (Rob R.), check out his guide to summer conferences.

Catchall:

Marvel Civil War

Marvel Civil War

During the catchall segment most of the crew discusses a classic, okay I don’t know if it is classic, story about the Marvel Universe. In this series of comic books we find superhero against superhero, as the government works to get handle on all the super humans out their. It ends up dividing the Marvel Universe and you will want to pick sides. So sit back and enjoy as we discuss this great story.

By the way, please support the arts by going out and buying the trade back of this story. Search around for your local comic book shop and be sure to ask the clerk about the story. See what they think and compare it to what we think. Also feel free to let us know what your thoughts by leaving us comment.

Feature Flick:

Captain America

Marvel Entertainment - Captain America

Sticking with the comic book theme, this week’s feature flick is Captain America: The First Avenger. For those non-comic book readers this movie is about a young man who wants to serve his country and deemed unfit. Finally Steve Rogers gets to volunteer for a secret project that turns him into Captain America. This movie stars; Chris Evans (as Captain America), Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving and Stanley Tucci. Let me tell you, this is a must see film in the theaters, but don’t just take my word for it. Listen in to the crew and see what they think. Also be sure to check out the review Jess wrote.

Thanks again for stopping by. Towards the end of the show you hear a reference to our review of Thor and how Mike is concerned about the acting prowess of some starts compare to the others in the upcoming Avengers movie. After you listen to this episode be sure to go back and listen to our discussion for Thor.

Thanks again for stopping by, we really do appreciate you taking the time to listen. Until next time…
