Drive Angry 3D

Summit Entertainment, LLC

First let me tell you that I am upset that Shady the Biker was not here to discuss this movie with us. It was his idea to check this flick out. I think he owes me a beer or lunch for making me watch this DVD. If you have not seen Drive Angry 3D consider yourself lucky. I know why Shady likes this movie, but I sure wish he was here to tell us why. Drive Angry is about an old guy who escapes out of hell to chase down a dude who killed his daughter and kidnapped his granddaughter. It stars Nicolas Cage (as the old guy), Amber Heard (as the eye candy), William Fichtner (as the only good actor & saving grace to this film) and Billy Burke (as the kidnapper). I am interested in hearing what you thought of this movie, leave a comment below and let me know if I am being to harsh on this movie. Better yet listen to the podcast and then leave a comment.

Feature Flick:

Transformers

Paramount Pictures

If you like cars and more eye candy than Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is the movie for you. This obvious Michael Bay movie is back for a third round. In this version of Transformers we get to see Sam Witwicky with a new girlfriend trying to find a job after college and the Autobots are saving the world (I’m not sure more meets the eye in this sequel). This time the Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft that crash landed on the Moon. And of course the race is on to reach it before the Decepticons use its secrets to destroy the humans. Once again you have Shia LaBeouf  as Sam, Josh Duhamel as Lennox, John Turturro as Simmons, and Tyrese Gibson as Epps. Plus you meet Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as the new love interest, aka eye candy, Carly.

So tell us what you think of Transformers by leaving a comment.

Until next time….

EftRoU 117: hanging out with the locals…

Show number 117

So this week is going to be a short show as The Moderator and I went on a trip to Las Vegas. I would have lots to share with you but as the saying goes “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” However we did take the time out to sit down with a couple of locals to record a show. We talked with David and Jonas to discuss the movie Green Lantern.

Green Lantern Movie
Warner Bros. Pictures – Green Lantern

Green Lantern is an origins movie. It is about a test pilot that is chosen to become a guardian of the universe by a ring, that’s right a ring (what do you expect from a super hero movie). This movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong.

Like I said it’s a short show this week so, why not a short post.

We’ll see you next week when The Moderator and I are back at Stately EftRoU Manor.

EftRoU 109: Mighty Mouse sniffed cocaine

EftRoU 109

In this week’s episode of EftRoU Dillon 2.0 steps it up a notch. Could it be because Cassi Perkins comes back for a second week in a row, maybe?!?!??!  Any who, this week we take on a new segment we are calling, Cartoon Character Showdown. We’re also looking at some history by reviewing and discussing Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy and our feature flick is The Conspirator.

Cartoon Character Showdown:

Cartoon Character Showdown #1

Cartoon Character Showdown: Mighty Mouse VS Underdog

As mentioned before this is a new segment we are bringing your way, we pit cartoon character against each other and hope to find a winner. Our first bought is Mighty Mouse vs. Underdog, who will win the crown. Listen in as Q defends Underdog and Mike takes the side of Mighty Mouse. Our bought judges will be Shady the Biker and his helpful assistants Cassi and Dillon. Tell us if you think the right character won or if Shady and the kids get wrong.

Boobtube Babble:

Only in America

History Channel - Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy

Man-o-man Dillon 2.o was excited about this segment. For our boobtube babble we have a short discussion about Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy. As much as I tried to avoid it I couldn’t help but say “Get-r-done”. This relatively new show to the History Channel is about Larry the Cable Guy going around the United States meeting everyday people and sharing stories that you can only find in America. Learn more about why Larry wanted to do this show by checking out the show history. Listen to the crew shares some of their favorite moments, like when Larry rides with the Hells Angles, visits NASA, wrangles some alligators and much, much more.

Feature Flick:

Movie the Conspirator

American Film Company - The Conspirator

Keeping with our history type theme the feature flick we discuss is The Conspirator. This great film is directed by Mr. Robert Redford and it’s about the seven men and the lone woman (Mary Surratt) who are charged with conspiring to kill the President (Abraham Lincoln), Vice President, and Secretary of State. Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken (played by James McAvoy) , a Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt (played by Robin Wright Penn) before a military tribunal. Aiken quickly realizes his client may be innocent. As the nation turns against her, Surratt is forced to rely on Aiken to uncover the truth and save her life. Other fine performances in this film include Justin Long as Nicholas Baker, Tom Wilkinson as Reverdy Johnson and Kevin Kline as Edwin Stanton.

Thank you once again for hanging out with us, we really do appreciate your time. If you are new to the show be sure to come back a visit us more often. Oh, by the way, did you learn anything from seeing this week’s movie? If so, or not, let us know by leaving a comment.

Until next time,

EftRoU 108: political correctness running amok

Show 108 Feature Image

We had the honor of having a guest again. Ms Cassi Perkins joined the gang to discuss songs that make us happy, a retro DV-Debrief of ‘Blazing Saddles’ and a feature flick discussion of ‘Your Highness’. Other voices you will hear on the show include Shady the Biker, Dillon 2.0, Mike Leach and myself.

The Catchall Segment:

Have you felt like sharing songs that make you happy, well we do so we decided to do it with the world. During the first segment of the show the EftRoU crew share some songs that put a smile on their face. Some of us had a short list and others had a list that could go on forever. Some of us (that means me) didn’t even know the right name of the artists of the songs that make us happy. So here is the correction, be sure to read this before or after you listen to the show. I mentioned the song ‘Fish Heads” and said it was Dr. Demento who was the performer, when in fact it is Barnes & Barnes who sing it. To learn more check out the link to their wiki entry.

Retro DV-Debrief:

Movie - Blazing Saddles

Gene Wilder & Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles

How many of you remember the Mel Brooks classic ‘Blazing Saddles‘? If you have not seen this film in a while it is time to check it out. If you have never seen this movie you must see it. Listen in as we discuss how much we really do love this movie. Also learn how much we believe this movie could not be made today as well as how today’s youth just don’t get it and may have something wrong with them. In case you forgot this movie stars Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Slim Pickens, Mel Brooks, Harvey Korman and Madeline Kahn. It is a western spoof about a town that is in the way of the railroad. In order to grab the town’s land, Hedley Lemar (Harvey Korman), a politically connected loathsome person, sends in his lackeys to make the town unlivable. After the original sheriff is killed, the town writes a letter to the Governor demanding for a new sheriff. Hedley convinces the Gov to send the town their first Black sheriff. Bart is a sophisticated urbanite who has some difficulty winning over the town, but in the end they all come together to keep their town from Hedley.

Feature Flick:

Movie Your Highness

Universal Studio - Your Highness

When we were planning this show a while back we thought it would be a good idea to take on two spoofs. We thought it would be a cool to compare the two movies, but hands down we found ‘Blazing Saddles’ to be much better than this week’s feature flick ‘Your Highness‘. As you will hear in the netcast we all feel it might be better to see this movie on DVD. ‘Your Higness’ is written by Danny McBride and Ben Best, it is about a prince’s bride being kidnapped. That prince then goes on a quest with his lazy brother to rescue the love of his life. Besides being the writer Danny McBride also stars in this movie as the lazy brother and playing the not so lazy prince is James Franco. There is plenty of eye candy for the men in this movie, including the bare backside of Ms Natalie Portman and the lovely vocal talents of Zooey Deschanel. Please let us know if we are wrong about this movie by leaving a comment and telling us why you should see this movie now and not wait for DVD.
