EftRoU 164: Square goes to see Brave…

On this weeks show we touch on a couple of feature flicks that are in theaters now. First, Square Ross shares some thoughts about Brave and then Mike and I talk about Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Enjoy the conversation and be sure to let us know what you think of these two films.

 Feature Flick #1:

Brave movie reveiw

Brave from Pixar Animation Studios

In Brave, Merida is a skilled archer & daughter of King Fergus. Bent to form her own path in life, Merida defies custom and inadvertently unleash chaos in the kingdom. When she turns to a Wise Woman for help, she’s granted an ill-fated wish. Listen in as Square tells us why we should, or should not, see this film. Tell us what you think of Brave by leaving a comment below or on our Facebook fan page.

Feature Flick #2:

Movie reveiw of Abraham Lincoln-Vampire Hunter

Twentieth Century Fox – Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

While Square went to go see Brave, Mike and I went to go see a more manly movie, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Based on a novel written by  Seth Grahame-Smith this movie is about President Abraham Lincoln preserving the Union and freeing the slaves. Not in the way that our history books have taught us, but instead Lincoln is motivated to fight against the forces of the undead. As a boy he saw his mother being killed by the hands of vampires. He makes it his life’s work to rid our nation of vampires. Find out if we liked this film and if it’s worth seeing in the theaters.

EftRou 162: The Return of The Crew

Greetings fans! Sorry we’ve been gone so long.  Life crept up on us and took us away for a bit.  Were back and ready to continue bringing you the best in discussion of entertainment.  In This episode were diving into Prometheus as our movie pick of the week and touch base on E3 for our gamer fans as well as the rumors of the “Iron Patriot” set pictures from Iron Man 3.

E3 Thoughts

HALO 4 Campaign

HALO 4 Campaign

So both Mike and I are the gamers of the crew and talk briefly about our thoughts on this years E3 expo. If you are like ‘Q’ you may not know what E3 is all about, so just to give you a little idea; it is all about what’s next from the video game world and what publishers are working on.  Mike and Square seem to agree that Halo 4 looks like a solid game that will bring old and new fans back to the franchise.  Also our thoughts on the lack of new hardware announcements and if it’s a good thing or not.

Iron Man 3 rumors

Iron Patriot

Iron Patriot

So production has begun on the newest installment of the Iron Man movie series. This version will bring back Robert Downy Jr, Gweneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle.  Rumors have been swirling around about the casting news and who will play who in the next film.  Mike and I are confident that Ben Kingsley will play the Mandarin and will fill the role nicely as the baddy.  Although the biggest bit of news recently is the bit about the “Iron Patriot” suit.  Fans went into a frenzy over this and we tell Q about why this is big news.

Feature Flick: Prometheus

TED Talk Peter Weyland 2023

TED Talk Peter Weyland 2023

The crew has anticipated this film for a while and it has finally arrived!  Over the last year when the first hints of this film came down the pipe fans kept wondering why Ridley and his crew kept saying this wasn’t an Aliens universe movie.  It wasn’t until a few months ago that Ridley finally came clean and admitted this had something to do with the Alien’s franchise.  Myself, Mike and Q all come from different backgrounds going into this movie.  I in particular am a FanBoy of Sci-Fi films and dive way into the deep end of the mythology of stories like these. I love to know every nook and cranny of these fantastic universes.  Mike is a fan of the films in general and loves seeing a good sci-fi story.  Q can be a fan, but never has dived in as deep like I have.

We’ve been talking about the films great “viral” marketing campaign and since then it looks like they have taken the campaign in new directions (Take a look after the last credits to learn about a new website to go visit).  We talked about this a few shows back in which several videos appear of a young Peter Weyland played by Guy Pearce talking to a crowd at TED.  Another video is in regards to David.  Both videos can be found here (Ted Talk) and here (David Video).

EftRou 153: the cornicopia episode

This weeks a bunch of bits from around the internet, TV and movies.  Its a short one as its only Q and SquareRoss.  We chat about all kinds of fun things this week and send some love out to our fans that have been commenting and sharing with us on our Fan page.  Sit back and enjoy this latest installment of EftRoU!

Walking Dead, Movie Trailers, Viral Marketing and more!

Walking Dead Poster

So we talked about ruining a show potentially for the fans.  If you haven’t heard yet on the pre-order page for The Walking Dead Season 2 DVD set a MAJOR spoiler regarding the fate of a character by the end of the season was accidentally (or was it…?) revealed.  I think with a show like this its safe to say all bets are off on main characters not dying.  IF you want to spoil the surprise death for yourself click here (warning this may enrage you when you find out so don’t send us hate mail).

Men In Black 3 Viral Poster

The Crew talks about a lot of Movie Trailers including:  MIB 3, Avengers, Prometheus Viral TED Talk video as well as the movie GOON.  We also ask ourselves… “do we really need viral marketing in our daily lives?” (Find out who agrees and disagrees)

Well that’s it for this edition of EftRoU, we hope you enjoyed it as always.  We would love to have you join the conversation on twitter via @entfortherest you can also find the crew on twitter: Q (@aka_q) and me SquareRoss (@SquareRoss) or send us an e-mail at heyyouguys@eftrou.com.

EftRoU 138: Scooter Boy…

In this episode the crew talks about 2 DVD’s:  Larry Crowne (Starring Tom Hanks & Juila Roberts) as well as the “epic vampire movie” The Lost Boys.

Larry Crowne

Universal Pictures

Larry Crowne just came out a few months ago in theaters and we took the time to catch up with it after it just released on DVD.  Larry Crown (Tom Hanks) is the central figure in this story of a man going back to college and at the same time reinventing himself after being laid off from his job a the U-Mart.  Along the way he cross’s paths with a colorful group of people as well as a “Scooter Gang”.  During his time he attends classes taught by Mercedes Tainot (Juila Roberts) & Dr. Matsutani (George Takei) who not only teach him academically but also teach him some interesting life lessons along the way with his new-found friends also attending his classes.

The Lost Boys

Warner Bros. Pictures

Since we figured people needed a good Vampire flick to watch we figured we go back to 1987 and watch The Lost Boys.  This movie we all agreed has aged well like a fine wine and definitely is worth watching again or like we talk about the first time as it was in my (SquareRoss) case.  This film centers around a family that has relocated to California to make a fresh start after a divorce.  No sooner does the family arrive when the older brother Michael (Jason Patric) get into trouble with a local biker gang who is led by David (Kiefer Sutherland) and just so happens to turn out to be a Vampire’s! At the same time Michael’s younger brother Sam (Corey Haim) makes friends Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) & Alan Frog (Jamison Newlander) who are trying to save us all from the impending evil that is the Vampires in this small town.  We really enjoyed re-visiting this classic film along with seeing the start to promising careers by this young cast including Kiefer Sutherland who would later go on to be in “24” and many other movies directed by Joel Schumacher who also directed this film.

We hope you enjoy listening and we would love to hear back from you.
